Service Life of AOD Furnace Lining

The researches show following measures can improve the service life of AOD lining :(1) increasing MgO and Al2O3 contents and make them close to saturation can improve the service life of MgO-Cr brick lining; (2) Appropriately reduce the steel-making temperature is conducive to improving the service life; (3) Speed up the steelmaking rhythm and shorten the steelmaking time; (4) Reducing temperature fluctuation is very important for lining spalling; (5) It is very important to select high density, high strength and directly combined Magnesia-Chrome and Magnesia-Calcium bricks; (6) Appropriate firebricks should be selected according to the operating conditions, especially the alkalinity and intermittence of the slag.
At present, the development trend of AOD lining resistant material is less and less magnesia-Chrome brick, more and more magnesia-calcium brick, some parts with low carbon magnesia-calcium material.
