About Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon Boat Festival is the fifth day of May in Chinese lunar calendar every year, called “Duanwu” in China.
The festival is one of the most important Chinese traditional festival,which came into being in honor of a great poet, Quyuan, who is aslo a famous patriot.
People eat special festival food “Zongzi” in the festival.
Zongzi is made of sticky rice, aslo called traditional Chinese rice-pudding. People use bamboo leaves or thick bamboo tubes as packaging. Red dates, mung bean even pork are added to the food. So there are both sweet Zongzi and salty Zongzi.
People will also organize dragon boat races to celebrate the festival. Because of Covid-19,the dragon boat race activities might be no longer bustling this year.
