Usually different batchings are used for the stopper head, stopper body and slag line part. The material of stopper body usually is Al2O3-C and the subject refractories can choose high grade fused alumina or special grade alumina clinker. The slag line is affected by tunic overcoating agent and liquid steel. In most cases, the Al2O3-c material made of high-grade electrofused corundum is adopted, and ZrO2-c material is also used in case of strong erosion. While ZrO2-C material is also selected in the strong erosion. Head is the most important part of stopper, and it is cooperating with water mouth bowl to achieve flow control.
The head and nozzle bowl part are designed in a curved form to ensure good flow control and closure.
