Composition and Function of ASC Castable Raw Materials

ASC castable for iron tap channel is mainly low cement or ultra-low cement and it is consist of Al2O3 aggregate ,SiC, carbon,cement and various additives.
1)Al2O3 aggregate: the major components of castable, also the grain skeleton of castable. Al2O3 aggregate includes, fused white corundum,brown corundum, sub-white corundum and high alumina bauxite clinker. The material are selected according to the using conditions. For example, high grade material uses fused compact corundum, mid-grade used brown corundum,and low grade choose sintered corundum or bauxite clinker.
2)SiC is added mainly because of following reasons, 1) in order to prevent the oxidation of carbon, improve the inoxidizability of refractories for iron tap channel.2) in order to prevent the cracking during heating and cooling process.3）improving the thermal shock resistance4） the oxidative product can prevent material from oxidation. 5)10-25% SiC does well in improving the erosion resistance.
