C & Cement for ASC Castable

1)C can prevent the slag from permeating to the inside material in ASC castable and limit the slag on the surface. C can also improve the thermal conductivity and thermal shock resistance of the material. What’ more, both the peeling and cracking are relieved. Graphite, carbon black, or pitch are added for C. Of course, the effect in castable is according to the addition and types of carbon raw materials. Generally, C is added as pitch based spheres or coke and addition is about 5%.
2)High alumina cement and pure calcium aluminate cement are used for the binding agents for Al2O3-SiC-C castable. Cement is added for maintaining low-temperature strength and medium temperature strength. While the cement is added with a few CaO, the erosion-resistant will be affected. So the CaO need be limited less than 1.0%-2.5%, and the Al2O3-SiC-C castable generally is low cement or ultralow cement castable.
