Refractories for BF
Blast furnace is a vertical furnace for coke combustion and reduction smelting of iron ore into metal iron by means of hot air. It is a thermal equipment for continuous iron making under high temperature and reducing atmosphere. A blast furnace is divided from top to bottom into throat, body, waist, belly, hearth and bottom.
The furnace throat is affected by the direct impact and friction when the burden falls. High density aluminum brick is generally used. The temperature of the furnace body and the middle is only 400-800℃, no slag formation and almost no slag erosion, mainly with clay brick, with the development of the blast furnace longevity, the furnace body and the middle with more resistant to wear and spalling of high-grade refractory materials, such as high aluminum brick, silica line stone brick. The lower part of the furnace has a high temperature. Therefore, it is required to have good slag resistance, alkali resistance and high temperature strength and wear resistance of high-quality clay bricks, high aluminum bricks, and even corundum bricks combined with silicon nitrided or Sialon in recent years.
