Converter use molten iron and steel scrap as material to make molten steel after slagging and blowing oxygen.
Factors influencing the service life of converter:
1)the composition of slag. As iron oxide in the slag increased by 1%，18-20 heats will be reduced.
2)tapping temperature. Higher temperature, shorter life.3)longer smelting time，shorter life.
4)batch operation causes erosion and cracking, service life is also reduced.
5)the converter will be damaged because of striking when molten iron or furnace charge is added.
If the rhythm of steelmaking is quickly, low carbon magnesia carbon brick with better erosion resistance is best choice. On the contrary, high carbon magnesia carbon brick is more suitable.
