Refractory for hot metal pretreatment

With the development of metallurgical industry, the variety and quality of steel production are improving. Therefore, more strict requirements are put forward for molten iron, which is required to have lower content of sulfur, silicon and phosphorus, so as to reduce the load of the converter and meet the needs of the converter steelmaking rhythm.

For non-desulphurizing torpedo canisters, the firing clay or andalusite bricks are generally used, lined with clay bricks or ordinary high aluminium bricks.

For the torpedo tank with desilication, desulfurization and dephosphorization, the use conditions are particularly harsh, clay brick and high aluminum brick can no longer meet the requirements, now commonly used aluminum carbide brick.

It is worth pointing out that one of the most important structures of refractory for molten iron pretreatment is the spray gun.

The spray gun is always subject to intense hot and cold temperature changes, and the refractory used for the spray gun is generally stainless steel fiber-reinforced corundum mullite castable. With increased erosion resistance requirements, carbonaceous castables are now being used, which significantly improves the erosion resistance.

In recent years, not only the refractories are changing, but also the amorphous progress is fast. Especially with the development of wet jet technology, aluminum-sic injection materials are used more and more to maintain the service life of torpedo tank, and good results have been obtained.
