Refractories&Glass

The production of glass mainly needs five steps and the process requires high temperature and refractories. But the glass has an erosive effect on refractories. So we must use suitable refractory products for glass kiln. Otherwise, not only the quality of glass but also the kiln service time will be affected.

When making colorless glass, bricks which contain ZrO2 will be used for sidewall, because the zone is heavily eroded.

Cr2O3 can as a colorant for glass. Because Cr3+ makes the glass green; Cr6+ makes the glass yellow.  Cr2O3 is hardly to dissolve in the glass. It's the reason why refractory brick which contains Cr2O3 would not be used for making colorless glass.
