Refractory castable for iron runner of blast furnace
China made castable which repairs frequently and contaminates the environment for iron runner of blast furnace by calcined fireclay, scorched particle ,soft clay and tar pitch in the past. Later, Al2O3-SiC-C ramming mass was used with high labour strength and more iron output. In the end of 1980s, Al2O3-SiC-C ultralow cement was made of dense white corundum,sub-white fused Alumina,brown fused alumina ,high quality aluminum clinker, silicon carbide flake graphite and micropowder, binding agent, admixture are added.
Generally the high-middle grade product is suitable for iron runner of large-medium blast furnace and mid-low grade product is used for iron runner or slag runner of medium-small blast rurnace.
With the development of ferrous metallurgy industry, more large blast furnaces higher temperature of molten iron and more iron output,the service conditions of refractories for iron runner is harsher. Self-flowing castable was explored abroad recently and Al2O3-SiC-C self-flowing castable worked well in some iron runner of large blast furnaces.
Gunning mix or castable can be used for repairing the part of erosion and self-flowing is most suitable for repairing because gap is narrow and irregular shape between mold and residual iron runner.
Self-flowing castable was developed according to rheological principle and it can flow depends on self weight and potential difference which degassing , spreading and compaction well.
Self-flow castable not can flow by itself but also has following advantages: 1)high temperature strength ,flushing resistance, resistance to erosion and oxidation resistance; 2)excellent thermal shock stability;3)can be baked quickly without cracks;4)combined tightly with residual lining without contacting with slag iron.
